Went for the kiss but got her cheek...am I screwed?

This girl and I have had a bit of a romantic history...not much but some. She moved away over a year ago right after we had a brief fling. We stayed in touch off and on, sometimes a lot while she was away. I visited her once and she came home a couple of times. In the several encounters we had we always kissed and were very comfortable around each other.

She just moved home 2 days ago. Leading up to her return she had been contacting me pretty regularly. I like this girl but am very insecure about her feelings towards me.

Yesterday we were texting and when she asked me if I had seen a movie that I knew she also wanted to see I asked if she wanted to go see it. She agreed for last night and we went.

So the night went well, we still have that level of comfort around each other. After the movie we went to a bar to have a beer and talk. It was nice and we both seem to be enjoying ourselves.

The night ends with her dropping me off at my place. I ask her about going to an event she had mentioned before coming up this Friday. She says that she'd like to go. Then after a bit of stalling before I get out I lean in for a kiss. She turns her face and I kiss her cheek. I just smiled and said good night while exiting the vehicle.

This really made me freak out though. Did I just ruin things? I may have rushed the process but I am usually a chicken when it comes to making a move. And in the past she has always accepted.

I don't know if its different now because she is home, and its not a rushed process or what.

Has anyone gotten the cheek or turned the cheek on a date? If so, is it always bad news?

I called her tonight and got no answer or call back. I'm pretty upset about it all now. I don't understand how this girl who I've been romantic with in the past and def knew I liked her would agree to go out with me and make sure to contact me a lot before she moved home to now be freaked out about me wanting to kiss her. Especially after she agreed to meet this coming Friday. So I called tonight to confirm, and to feel things out but got no answer. Does her behavior make any sense?

Well its done now. I got an email from her this morning saying she just wanted to be friends. Said she "cherished" our friendship but couldn't give more than that. So that sucks. I really wish she had taken my feelings into consideration before flooding me with contact upon her return and then agreeing to go on a date with me when I had expressed to her many times before how I liked her. I just don't get it but I doubt I ever will. When will women realize that men don't want to be friends.

So she is back. She started contacting me earlier this month. Saying she had the next couple weeks of and if I wanted to hangout we could. Some days she texts me non stop. We went to dinner and a concert last night. It was a great night and we got along great but I didn't know if it was more than friendship to her. I didn't try to make a move so who knows. I felt sheepish about after the last date back in October.


Her life is going great right now, so I'm not sure why she is starting contact

it's possible she doesn't want to rush into anything or she's just not that into you that way anymore. Never go anywhere with her where it's not a real date don't go places "as friends" that way she can't do the cop out where she says she didn't know it was a date etc or she isn't putting you in the friend zone make sure she knows these are dates in the old fashioned 'i like you you like me we want to spend time together' kinda way.

Weird. I don't blame you for going in for a kiss. It seemed like the right thing to do - she was giving you all the right signals. And you guys have even kissed before! Hmm...don't know what to make of this. I guess just go out again and play it by ear. Maybe she's a bit nervous or prude? You could always bring it up again. Tell her you miss kissing her & want to kiss her again! See what she says.

I'm really sorry about your update. She might have felt that since there was something there before that she'd still feel it and that just wasn't the case. So basically she wasn't leading you on she really thought there could have been something there and there wasnt...for her. At least she's not still leading you on she's realized it's just not there for her and she told you the truth.

Yeah I've considered this, but she knew me. She had contact with me and has been around me enough times to know who I am and how I am. She wasn't going on a second or 3rd date with someone, she was going on a date with a guy she had been talking to, who is also someone she had kissed every time they had been face to face. I don't know how a date that went well was something that made here go "i'm done with this." I feel that her mind was made up before but who knows

yeah sometimes girls try to force it because a guy seems like he'd be right for her but when it's not there it's just not and there could be someone else who's gotten her interest up too it's just hard to know. we're a deep pool of mysteries lol

That might have been her way of saying, now that I'm back, don't just take it for granted that you're getting this.

Or it might have been her putting you in a very certain place. You did the right thing by not freaking out in front of her, just smile and go.

Aw don't feel bad I've done that once or twice. Not because I didn't want to kiss him but because I was nervous.
