A slice of fresh tomato with a slice of fresh mozzarella and a basil leaf is gourmet food.
Simple excellence is the soul of really great cooking.
The best steak I've ever had was seasoned with nothing but fire and salt.
The best Pate I've ever had contained nothing but a pork shoulder and a bottle of Caribbean Jerk seasoning that got pressure cooked for hours and then went through a Cuisinart before being formed and chilled. Few things taste as great as grilled ripe pineapple. Or a buttered grilled onion. Or a bowl of over ripe peaches drizzled with heavy whipping cream. Or sweet ripe pears and an assortment of cheese to go with it.
Or a bowl of tuna sashimi.
The short version is that I'm going to buy me some penne and some blue cheese to try tonight. :-)

I've been to some pretty swanky restaurants, both in America, Italy, and France.
If there's one thing I hate about getting gourmet dishes from time to time, is how small portions they are.
I've literally paid like, hellishly large amounts of money to get dishes that could sometimes fit on the end of a fork.
I hate it when they do that.
No because I don't like blue cheese. I have on the other hand, melted cheez whiz before on pasta and called it a day. It's actually pretty good
