First, a picture is, as someone below said, worth a thousand words. So, as I don't have a visual of what you look like I'm gonna have to go off of my imagination.
From my experience, women who say "I'm not fat, I'm curvy." are fat. 'tis just how it is. Yes, some "curvy" women are in fact not fat.. but like I said, most who SAY they're curvy aren't. Curvy is the new big-boned. The female version of hefty. This is of course based on the assumption in mind that you're not quite muscular with some fat padding.. I'm assuming (no pic!) that you're of average female strength, and your weight comes from your height and your fat.
I suck at guessing people's weight by looking (or thinking about) them, so I just looked up words like ideal weight.. most seem to think that the average 5'11'' gal is between 140 and 170. That would put you on the high side - the fat side. Even so, simple numbers can't tell us much. We don't know how athletic you are, how muscular, which is definitely important to know when you consider that muscle weighs more than fat. Can you run a mile? If so, how quickly? Can you run 2? 3? Can you do a pull-up (or a chin-up)? Can you jump and touch the rim of a basketball hoop? How many deep bodyweight squats can you do? How many pushups can you do? Etc.
If you can run a mile in 8 minutes without burning yourself out, you're at least moderately capable of aerobic activity. If you can manage a pull-up, you have decent upper body strength. If you can jump and touch the rim, your muscles are probably in a decent ratio with your fat -- depending on the height of the rim, of course. Too few muscles and too much fat would prevent you from jumping that high. A high rep count on squats would show not only how strong your legs are (again related to how heavy your muscles are), but also how healthy your lungs are.
If you're active and capable of handling your own body weight with ease, any fat you have is obviously not detrimental. If, however, you're not capable of these basic feats of athletic ability, your weight is most likely the result of excess fat. You may wear it well, so to speak, unlike people who store it all in their face, belly, and upper arms.. but it doesn't necessarily mean you don't have too much of it.
Having fat and being fat are two different things; numbers are nothing. The question is, what can you do with the body that you have? This is, imho, what decides whether or not you're fat.

Unfortunately there is a lot of pressure from the media and such to be thin. The average model is among the skinniest 5% of women! So don't you dare compare yourself to the women in magazines and advertisements. Unfortunately many guys are shallow and want Maxim girlfriends, but even by those standards 170lb on a 5'11 frame is not that bad. Too many girls worry about their appearance and figure, meanwhile any decent guy interested in an actual relationship will want you more for your personality, your inner beauty, than your outer beauty.
OK listen to me. Its not about the number, its about how you look and feel. If you look good at 170 and you feel good, then you are fine where you are. If not, go to the gym. Eat healthy and get into shape.
I was at the gym once and this girl who was about 5'5' got on the elyptical next to me. I thought "wow this girl is in really good shape she must not weigh very much". She entered her weight on the elyptical and she weighed 175. Its not at all about how much you weigh. A guy isn't going to care about the number on the scale as long as you look nice and healthy.
im 5'7-5'8 and I weight 150 and people concider me as fat, but those are the people I do not get along with, so ofcourse they will say things to hurt me.
other people get shocked when I tell them my weight, because the woudl have guesses 140pounds.
i geuss it comes down to your confidence and just being healthy.
I don't think it's that much, really. It might be easier if I seen a picture of you, but I'm thinking that you're not overweight or anything. And according to your BMI, which is 23.7 if you're 5'11 and 170 lbs, you're healthy and that's in the normal range, so..

if you d on't think you're fat, then the weight doesn't matter...a guy isn't going to pick you up and say, "hmmmm, too heavy." it all depends on how that 170lb is distributed and what it's made of, fat or muscle. is your butt big and jiggly or big and firm?
Only 170lbs at 5'11"? I'd be taking you out to the pool for a swim, (to keep you firm) then to some all-you-can-eat joints (to fill you out more).
I definitely wouldn't call you too heavy. Don't worry about it. Women worry too much about their appearance and weight. You sound cute.
Gregdamn girl you are heavier then me..well if I'm skinny but I'm 5'10 and I weigh 161..to be honest I'm gonna say a little over 150 understandable but 170...dear god... I agree with That-Guy a picture is worth a thousand words
according to findmybmi.com "You have a BMI of 23.71. This BMI puts you under the body classification of "Average" according to the CDC (US Center for Disease Control & Prevention)."
This is the bmi calc I was told to use at high school. If I were you, I'd be happy with where I was but I'd try to keep my weight within 160-175lbs.you're BMI is 23, making you healthy, so you can't be fat. Don't worry about it
No your body mass index is 24 which is very healthy and it is normal.. You are just beautiful with cuves. that is it..
I don't know, I have to see a pic to see if she is a yes or a no. It all depends.
i say check the BMI scale on line to see if it's in the healthy range. generally 18.5-25 is healthy
170 pounds for a 5'11 girl is not bad, it's considered to be in the healthy weight range.
Not really, but honestly if you were say 150lbs that would be even better. I mean that in the nicest way possible. Honestly.
I'm creeping up on 22 early next year, I'm 5'7" and I my weight fluctuates between 145lb and 150lb.
for your height, that doesn't seem bad at all. not only that, most girls are actually way heavier than you would think so I bet a lot of people would be surprised to find out your actual weight
remember.. curvy is sexy :)I'm 5'5" at 200-210 lbs. It's not that great.
You, however, are good.as long as your BMI is within the healthy range then I wouldn't worry about it.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
170 for that height doesn't sound bad.
