I've always been very leery of this type of breed and told my bf about it. We've only been dating for almost 2 months and I still just simply don't trust Rotties too much.
Had once an always bad encounter with one (not bitten but still, it was kind scary) when I was 15 and I returning from the movies with my then 7 year-old brother. It was night and this big of a Rottie comes charging suddenly. My brother covers himself around me and only thing I did was put my stand there and put my hand out. Somehow it worked, the dog stopped and it licked my hand for the longest. Then it rubbed us with its skin for some time.
I called it just pure luck. Otherwise, we would have been probably dead or seriously mauled. Still, I haven't gotten over that intial fear.
