I will admit, I am definitely not an expert when it comes to yoga. In fact, I only recently began trying it. I have had a lot going on in my life lately and recently, one of my friends recommended trying yoga. At first I thought I would hate it, I didn't think it was something I would be interested in. However, after trying it for a little while now, I have already noticed an improvement in myself in several areas. So, I'm here to share the benefits of yoga and possibly inspire others to try it too!

1. Stress Relief

The Benefits of Yoga

Stress can reveal itself in many ways such as back or neck pain, sleeping problems, headaches, or an inability to concentrate. Doing yoga regularly can help so much with stress management and relief. Yoga focuses on breathing techniques which aids in relaxation, calms the mind, and helps people to de-stress.

2. Increased Flexibility

The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga poses work by stretching your muscles. This can help you move better and feel less stiff.

3. Posture

The Benefits of Yoga

When you become stronger and more flexible, your posture improves. Many yoga poses helps develop core strength, since the core muscles support and maintain each pose. With a stronger core, you're more likely to sit and stand with good posture.

4. Protection from Injury

The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga can be practiced to improve balance and to heal and prevent injuries. Yoga can strengthen muscles and due to an increase in flexibility as well, it can help protect athletes, or anyone for that matter, from injuries.

5. Increased Cardio and Circulatory Health

The Benefits of Yoga

Yoga has been known to lower blood pressure and slow the heart rate. A slower heart rate can benefit people with high blood pressure or heart disease, and people who have had a stroke. Yoga has also been linked to lower cholesterol levels.

These are only a few of the many benefits of yoga. Yoga helps create harmony between the mind and the body. You don't have to be an expert to do yoga either! There are basic poses that anyone can do and benefit from, whether someone is an experienced athlete or someone who is new to exercise. If you've never done yoga before, give it a try and see how it can impact your life :)
