I've seen way too many happy people STAY happy with positive thinking, and I just can't hate on that. Even if it doesn't necessarily change the situation itself, who doesn't want to be happier? You know?
My dad is a firm believer in positive thinking. I'm always like "Life sucks dad...I'm tired." And he's like "BE ENERGETIC! BEEEEEEEE ENERGETICCCCCCCCC." He's 64 and looks like he's 50 lol. It's clearly working for him.

Absolutely not.
Positive thinking is a powerful thing. It is never a waste of time, but you should always be realistic. Positive thinking tends to drag you down if you always screw up.
