Are u talking about ramadan fasting?
Because if u are they only fast from sunrise to sunset. And most of the day part, if u think about it, they spend it sleeping.
Their schedules are all altered during this month so that they stay awake at night, the time when they eat iftar (which is a meal that breaks the fasting for the day), dinner, and suhoor (which is their last meal of the day and symbolizes the beginning of a new day of fasting).

You pick a fast that will work for you. And you do it gradually. You do not just start on week long fast. You can begin with intermittent fasting and go from there. I've done a seven day fast. It was all liquids and I dropped 15lbs. It's awesome for detox and energy. Prolonged fasts are definitely harder but you build up to it.

Personally I'd recommend Intermittent-Fasting if you wanna try it. That would be 16-20 hours without food, only water/tea/coffee (without added sugar and sweetener of course!), followed by a 4-8 hour eating window. The fast usually starts at bedtime and is broken during the evening. This was actually a rather effective way for me to lose weight.
Most people only fast from food for a couple of hours. Things like technology or sweets people do for hours

It's not easy I went 2-3 weeks without eating only fluids through an IV line. I was in a hospital at the time never noticed the hunger pains must have been the 104 + temp. I lost like 35-40 lbs so much my grand mother didn't recognize me when she came to visit.
I eat after sunset. I get hungry around 5-6 pm, but stay patient. :p
It's only once every year.
I don't know if we are talking about the same fasting.They don't literally starve themselves to my knowledge.
the longest i can fast is 20-30 hrs i want to try to do a 48 hr fast but that seems pretty hard
Sounds a lot easier than actual not eating or drinking
Have a good breakast and then just don't think too much about food
