I went "vegan" first because I hated the conditions on factory farms, so all I did was give up store bought meat and dairy. I am Native American though, so I grew up hunting and being a huge meat eater, so I continued to eat hunted meat for a while because I felt it was a lot more humane. I did that for 6 months, but hunted meat was a lot harder to come by so I only ate it maybe 3 times in that 6 month time span. Eventually though, my mom put some moose meat on my place and all of a sudden I felt absolutely repulsed by it. I just completely stopped seeing it as food and started seeing it as someone else's body, muscles, tendons, ligaments, veins, and all. That was just so gross to me, especially because humans are made of those same parts. I literally want to barf thinking about it now, which is so fucking wild since I was such a carnivore. Like no one was obsessed with bacon more than I was and now I can't even be around it. The way meat eaters feel about cannibalism is how I feel about eating meat now, it's just so weird that we eat things made of meat when we, ourselves, are made of meat.
However, I do get cravings every once in a while when I don't eat enough that day or if I don't eat enough nutritionally-dense food, which is normal because when you under eat or are lacking in nutrients, your body will naturally crave, high-fat, calorically dense food. It's not the meat you're craving, it's the calories and the fat. This is why people suffering from binge eating disorders are almost always restricting calories as well. It's inevitable, but your brain knows which foods have the most calories and you'll crave that. Really, all you have to do is carb the fuck up, use cronometer. com to make sure you're getting all your nutrients, and you won't get cravings whatsoever. Eat a diet that is calorically sufficient, with plenty of fruits and vegetables and you'll be fine.
I would recommend you buy a Tofurky or Gardein "turkey" for Thanksgiving. Canada's Thanksgiving was last month and it was honestly soo fucking good. Tastes like turkey, but less dry, so I actually liked it better. There are so many alternatives to meat and dairy that is available to vegans and vegetarians, that there's really no reason to ever feel restricted. They even have vegan "fish" that tastes really good actually, maybe include that in your diet so you no longer have to support the fishing industry that's currently destroying our oceans. :)

I don't, but some do. If you keep yourself full, you won't have cravings for something you haven't eaten in a long time.
I'm like you, I eat seafood but not usually other types of meat. Maybe once a month I'll get a BBQ sandwhich or chicken tacos, I think moderation is a good place to aim for. 98% of the time I'm vegetarian / pescetarian but on special occasions there's no substitute for a bacon cheeseburger.
When you do eat meat, make sure it's worthwhile. i. e. don't cave in and then go to McDonalds, make it worthwhile and go for the best.
And holidays are perfect days to cheat... It would be downright un-American to not eat turkey on Thanksgiving :-P
I thought i would but since i became vegetarian meat literally repulses me i don't know how people can eat that kind of thing
