Lust?
Gluttony?
Pride?
Sloth?
Anger?
Greed?
Envy?
I believe in them only in the sense that they're general guidelines on how to live a good and healthy life.
Lust - I don't think there's anything wrong with lust itself, but it can be a negative thing when people allow their lust to negatively affect their own life or the lives of others (i.e. cheating).
Gluttony - It's important to take care of your body and give it the proper nutrients it needs. Overeating or filling your body with junk food often leads to obesity and various health problems.
Pride - Pride can go either way. If you do well at something or you achieve a goal that you were working toward, I think it's fine to be proud of yourself and recognize your achievements. In that sense, pride can help to build your self-esteem and self-worth. On the other hand, excessive pride is often a "front" for someone who undervalues themselves. Pride can also be a negative thing when people allow their pride to get in the way of good judgment (i.e. when someone is too proud to admit that they are wrong or to apologize to someone).
Sloth - Being lazy often means that you're neglecting the health of your body and your mind, which can have negative affects on you.
Anger - We all get angry at times, and often we're justified in it. But it can be negative if you allow anger to consume your life, you make poor decisions as a result of your anger, or you take your anger out on people who don't deserve it.
Greed - I don't think there are many cases in which greed is seen as a good thing. Greed is often related to placing an unhealthy amount of importance on wealth, material things, or power. It neglects the interconnectedness we have with our fellow man and our planet. It often means exploiting and/or hurting other people for your own personal gain. I think that greed can also cause people to feel like no matter what they have, it's never enough---they always want more and are never satisfied.
Envy - I think it depends on the extent of your envy and how it affects you/what you do about it. Like, if you're envious that your friend has a boyfriend and you don't, okay. But if you're envious to the extent that you try to sabotage your friend's relationship, that's obviously an unhealthy amount of envy and it's damaging to your friend and to you (since it might damage your relationship with your friend). On the other hand, if you're envious that your friend is going on a fancy vacation, but you don't hold it against him or her, you just wish that you could have the time, money, etc. to be able to do that too, that's not really a big deal. Or if your envy inspires you to work harder or to change in order to achieve something that another person has, that can be a good thing (i.e. if you're envious that your friend has a good job/income and it inspires you to go back to school and work hard to get good grades and a good job when you're done).
Further, I think that envy can also help us to identify injustices (like, if you feel envious about something and take the time to think about it, you might discover that there's preferential treatment going on, for example).
So, is it wrong to commit these things? I think it depends on a lot of different factors. I think it's wrong when any of these things negatively affect other people. But if it's something that just harms yourself, it's your own decision whether or not you're okay with
that.
And there are instances where a lot of these things aren't harmful to you, in my opinion.
Woww...
I think if they were so wrong, humans wouldn't be able to commit these sins. They're human feelings. Sometimes it's very therapeutic to commit them.
When I'm just so horny at the thought of my boyfriend that I spend all day Saturday having sex with him instead of cleaning the house. Or overindulge in ice cream. I think the 7 deadly sins mean we're human. It doesn't mean you should commit all of them, all the time, but I don't think they're wrong.
Actually..I do...but even after all these years..I cannot rank them..however (after all these years) the ones that I believe are the most wicked: Envy & Greed..Grand Champions of wickedness...
Oh absolutely. I believe in lust and gluttony every single day. Just not the way you meant.

Well I believe that someone who commits them will eventually die as will someone that somehow manages to ignore their human nature. So... I personally wouldn't even attempt to use them as moral guideline as what to avoid.
I much prefer a line I picked up from Wicca. "Do no harm least it return to you threefold."
I do not believe that it is wrong to commit them. They are normal human feelings and emotions, and as long as you do not let them control you or affect other people then they are not wrong.
Well, I don't believe in hell, so I don't consider any of them to really be bad things. Hell, they're all normal emotions. I go through most of them before brushing my teeth in the mornin', lol.
All of these so-called sins, they all lead to physical, emotional, or mental gratification.
~ Anton LaVey
I don't think they are wrong because of that reason.
I don't think there is a single soul on the planet that hasn't broken one of the 'seven deadly sins'.
take them all away and what do you have in the end "A Robot"
They are not sins as long as you're not hurting anyone, including yourself.
I don't get what you mean, I think we all go through them sometime
Of course I believe in them, I did see that movie Se7en.
Yes it is wrong, they'll all wrong, but they're all unavoidable. it's something everyone has been guilty of at one point or another in their lives
what is sloth? Sloths are cute especially when they are climbing up a tree =)
sloth means excessive laziness, lol. sloths are cute :)
i believe in them, and Iknow I have broken a few of them
I'm a fan of wrath, myself.
Na I have broken all of them or committed
What do you mean believe in them?
sloth?
Excessive laziness
ah okay. I believe theyre all things you want to avoid. How can you not be angry at times? How can you not have pride in yourself and the ones you love? How can you not lust? Sure these things could harm you if taken overboard but I don't know if all of them aren't necessarily basic human emotions. All the rest are just bad.
lol, sloths are awesome :)
Just a select few...
mmm No!
