Go to a local running store. They were very helpful to me and I'm sure would do the same for you. I had no clue what I really needed and they were able to get me the perfect shoes for me. I was surprised to find out that I actually needed a narrow shoe. I have flat arches, so my feet don't look narrow, but realized that they were narrow when I actually had good arch support. I never realized how important the fit of a tennis shoe was. They got me the best pair of shoes ever! Mine are brooks, but something else might be better for you. I now have 3 pair because I wore through the others running. Replace your shoes about every 500 miles that you run in them. Good shoes can be expensive, but are so worth it. My knees hurt if I run in bad shoes and some people get shin issues, so getting a good pair for you is really important and worth the investment!

cardio and a good diet are a great way for getting rid of that layer of fat. as for your situation with a running shoe id say ask someone at a store. I would reccomend pumas but for high arches that doesn't seem fitted. but people in sports stores/shoe stores are there for a reason and their opinions are likey more suited than mine.
GEnerally New Balance have the widest choice of styles and specialized types of shoe. Plus, they come in many widths so people with unusually wide or narrow feet can find something that fits THEM. Plus, they don't spend so much on advertising as others, that makes me feel better.
Also, they haven;t been accused of running sweatshops in the third world!
Cant you ask the people working in the store? They usually are experts..At least here in Europe. But give it a try, I don't see why they can't help you. And cardio is awesome! Your body will thank you ;)

type in texas running company and see if there's one around. They are experts in shoes and will sit down and bring out multiple pairs of shoes for you to try. But if there's non there asics are the way to go
It depends entirley on your feet and running style, you need to go to a store and ask someone. They often make videos of you running, to tell what shoe fits you best
U need to try them on and see. As you know there are many brands out there. Get them 1/2 size larger though. Your toes should not touch the front. Try adding some arch support for added comfort.
I use New Balance...have you tried orthotics?
