When a GIRL'S voice changes, what usually happens?

Does it get all raspy(but no sore throat)? I have a daughter (12), and her voice has been raspy for the past few weeks or so..I took her to the doctor yesterday, and he said, "Welp. Nothing is wrong her. Seems to me as if it's just a phase, but I don't know if it's puberty kicking in or not." So what the heck is going on with her voice?

She says she wakes up with like an..I don't know how to describe it, but she said, "I wake up, and my voice sounds like I have a sore throat (I guess she means that she can't talk well until about 3-4 mintues after she wakes up, because she has to cough to be able to speak clearly) , but it's not sore..It's just raspy and it sounds like I'm going hoarse, but I'm not..It just sounds differently."

Female voices usually only change because when they get bigger so does there throat it gets longer and vocal cords change. But its not like a male voice change with the adams apple. Tonsilitis? Or does she sing? There are things called voice nodules they are harmless but just need to be treated these can affect voices. I would recommend she drinks warm water and honey and get a second opinion. also trying calratin decongestion might help because of post nasal drip.

Its only raspy when she wakes up? That's normal. A lot of people get "toad voice" which is just your vocal chords warming up after you wake up. Its rare for a girl's voice to change because of puberty but it happens. Get her to drink warm liquids. Tea would be the best option.

No. It's raspy ALL DAY..it's been that way for a while. She has been drinking everything she can..(that the doctor said)...and nothing helps. I never had this issue when I matured into a woman.

Its rare. Not a lot of girls do. Hot tea, honey, hot water, etc would be best. Other than that, nothing you can do.

When I hit puberty not only did I get the large breasts and ass but I also got the voice change. My voice us lower and raspy. my voice use to be higher. And opalhearts your wrong girls voices do change

But did you ever feel as if you had that sore throat, but you really didn't have it? It's like she wakes up and can hardly talk..but after about 3 or 4 minutes (after she's been clearing her throat by coughing), she can talk..but it's not high-pitched as usual...just raspy...

I have allergies and my voice does this when I wake,up this is, not strange and no even my voice changed I didn't notice nor did I care because I can sing pretty well thanks to my voice change

That's strange, because normally boys' voices change, not girls'. I'd suggest you get a second opinion from another doctor, if the problem persists.

No. Males AND females' voices do, infact, change.

Everyone's voice changes...eventually. Females usually do not notice it.
