How many don't know what GMO's are?
Do you support GMO's? why or why not?
How many don't know what GMO's are?
I'm not against Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO). Although they are not proven to be completely safe (you can't prove a negative though, right?), anyone who chooses to consume them should have the right to do so, and anyone who chooses not to should also be respected.
In short, I support GMO's, but I also support the "labeled food packaging" thing. Everyone has the right to know what they are eating.
They should be labelled. Let the famous market forces and an informed consumer make the choice.
They cause many health issues (heart attacks, organ failure, and many things we may not find out til later, this is very new science, we are being used as guinea pigs!) I think they should be ILLEGAL(They are in other countries but not the U.S.) or at the very least, labeled, just like on cigarette boxes " this may cause cancer, etc, etc." sadly tons of people still smoke cigarettes!
you got any scientific studies to back your claims
GMOs have to undergo rigorous safety screenings to insure that they are safe. There are some ethics involved in the entire process. New organisms have to be safe not only to people but to the environment. They are allow to target specific organisms, for example bt corn as they would target them with a pesticides, but it has to be deemed safe for human consumption and not blanket kill everything around. Bt corn has been someone controversial due to it containing it's own pestiside
but the levels seen in the food is not unheard of. When you get normal crops sprayed with pesticide you get toxins with your food as well... Most GMOs are not even like that though. Many focus on a plants resistance to a poison and don't affect the food, or they add more nutritious value to the food like golden rice II does. Why don't you try learning about GMOs before you jump to conclusions.
