I agree with the hot and cold treatment. When things are really bad i soak that particular body part/ my entire body in hot water and epsom salts. Heat the water as hot as you can take it. You can use the generic kind from johnsons or some other brand. There are also the scented ones as well. Just dont stay soaking too long. Now epsom salts when ingested in concentrated amounts has laxative properties so if you decide to try it read the instructions carefully. But seriously it works.

You have to ice them for about ten minutes after you get home from practice. We just started the Varsity Baseball season, and for the first few practices I didn't ice my legs afterwards. I had trouble walking for the rest of the week, I had to waddle up stairs :P. I just got over it on Friday .
Alternating hot and cold is suggested for sprains, It couls be something else, like torn cartilage, but that is less likely. If it persists, bring it up with a doctor. (Iassume you are a lefty and that is your throwing arm?)
