So I want to know if I'm just a slow reader by comparing with other people or it can be due to my short attention span, I get distracted easily?
How many pages of a 400 word/page book can you read in 1 hr?
If I'm reading just to retain random information (like for class discussions or when reviewing policies for fun) I could read 100 in an hour-- but it won't be in detail and I only read what is structured to be important, like things that follow the thesis or research question, the base information and final analysis. So its more like.. intense skimming.
if I'm not interested and its difficult to read or I'm just reading it to read it (so its recreational or some random assigned reading we might not discuss in class) I read SO slow. I'd read like 30 pages an hour haha
as for things I read for myself that I emjoy reading, I'm not sure. I enjoy it too much to ever sit and think about how many pages I read within that sitting >< Probably like 50+ pages an hour? I think that sounds like a fair guesstimate.
*sigh* I'm the queen of typos.
Depends on the type of book. If you were to say a book that I am interested in, them maybe 85. I kinda like to re-read certain sentences again, just to makes sure that I am understanding the text. But if it were my textbooks, maybe like 8 pages. I kind of zone out and skim through them, but then have to re-read them, because I have no idea what I just read. Hahahahaha. Like today, I read 3 chapters of my psychology textbook in about 11 hours, and each chapter has 250 pages. What a fail, 11 hours for 750 pages. ) :
If it's fiction and I'm interested, about 100 pages. It usually takes me 4-5 hours to read a 400 page book.
If it's non fiction and I like it, about 50-70 pages or so.
If it's non fiction and I hate it, it could range from 5-50 pages.
Obviously, book and font size vary, so these are rough numbers.
Depends what I'm reading. I doubt these people who are reading between 40-100 pages an hour are reading 'The World as Will and Representation'...
It's not just about reading the words, I need to process the information. Otherwise I won't remember it. Usually if it's extremely challenging, about 10 pages an hour, average is probably 20-30, then again I do tend to read weighty material. For fluff probably about 40-50 pages an hour. I really wish I could read faster. Maybe there's some technique I can learn?
I have dyslexia so reading for me is very difficult, that's why I use the computer, everything comes in short paragraphs, it's easy to deal with, with books it's just long continuous... But, I do read, and... Well, book I'm reading at the minute, I got to page 87 in 3 hours, so I don't know what that'd be divided, but its maybe similar to you?

That depends on the book, but typically I can read 50-60 pages in an hour. Sometimes less if the book is really difficult or I don't really like it, and I can read way more if I'm really into the book. I read 100 pages in just over an hour when I was reading my favorite book, but with the book I'm reading for school, which is really hard and not very interesting to me, I max out at about 25 pages in an hour.
I got a book in the airport and finished it in under two hours of waiting... I've always been a pretty fast reader though... Probably because it's something I'm constantly doing.
I have not been committed into reading a book since 4 years ago. Maybe that is why I am such a slow reader because I don't develop it. Thanks
Not a clue, but if it's a good book I'll get lost in it and loose complete track of time until I finish it
Me too dude, I won't put that s.hit down unless I HAVE to, like about half of my workday, lol. But left unhindered with a great book and I'll read it from cover to cover in a day or two easily, I just get so wrapped up in it. I wonder if this has anything to do with reading consistently from a young age, because I've been reading since I was three, and I wonder if others who get wrapped up in books that way have been reading since they were a similar age, if there's a correlation. =]
Like 100, I'd guess. I can read a 500-600 page book in a day easily if I have the time to commit to it, lol. A day off work or something where I don't go out. =]
If I'm lucky, about 10. If I'm really tired, make that 6.
Part of the effects of my disability mean that I'm a slow reader.
It depends when I had to read my AP World history book it took an hour for like 40 pages, if it's a good book I want to read it's around 70.
Depends on the words per page and the vocabulary used, but I could read about 60 pages an hour a few years ago. Yeah... I used to read a lot.
Depending on page length and the difficulty of the words, I'd say from 50 pages to about 90 pages.
I've never timed myself, but I can finish a 200 page book in a day easily.
Well I just bought a book that was 374 pages and read it in 2 1/2 hours but I have dyslexia and as a kid all I would do is read because I hate having issues with it and now I barely realize it is there so all you have to do is practice
Depends on the context but as little as three and as five or as much as fourty
Good book 40 bad book 25..
I can read a third of a book if it's good in an hr
