Reasons Why I don't Watch the News or Keep up with Current Events.

I asked a question about International Women's Day, earlier because it's something I don't get. I seem to have offended someone with what I said to her response to my question, because she told me not to reply back. However, in that response she asked "Aren't you watching the news and paying attention to current events?", I did respond back to apologize and was going to answer that question. Then I realized, it would be better suited to write a short my take of my reasons.

So......................

Here They Are:

1. I'm not into politics. Never have been and don't ever want to be.

2. I see how peoples political interests consume them entirely and turn them into different people, people they aren't really at heart. I already became someone I didn't want to be once, after middle school and I'm still trying to change that. So, I have no desire to involve myself with something that could change me again.

3. I try not involve myself with things that don't directly effect me, at that present time. All the things going on now that people are so passionately for or against, don't mesh with where I am in my life right now. Maybe, when I'm in the right place in my life and these are things I have to think about, maybe then I'll care. For now though, I don't.

4. I try not to watch the news because it's full of negative stuff, I'm already a negative person with an anxiety disorder and a fear of everything. Watching the news would just be asking for trouble, because I'd probably never leave the house and would have more fear than I already do. Hence, why I don't watch the news.

5. For the same reason I don't watch the news, is the same reason why I don't keep up with current events. It would just cause me more trouble then I need, so I just don't pay attention.

6. As selfish as it may seem to people. I've got some much personal change to make in my own life and with myself, so many goals I have set and things I'm trying to do to better my life. That I'm so consumed with that and my head is so consumed with that, I don't even notice anything else or have time for anything else. I'm too focused on my own life and the people that matter to my life, that I don't have the energy to focus on the worlds problems too. I know that probably sounds bad, it is the truth though.

I think that covers all of my reasons. Do you keep up with current events or watch the news? Why or why not?

I very much disagree.

Intentionally being ignorant about what is happening within your own nation's government, is stupid.

I have family members who are upset Trump won the election and refuse to watch, read or listen to any political news. I told them the same thing.

Why I pretty much just lose myself in rpg's. I really don't care if the rest of the world burns to ash. As long as I have food, electricity, internet, and a decent PC I couldn't care less about the rest.

I really agree with you that watching the news can have a very negative influence on our lives

I wonder if you don't watch the news do you watch only pure entertainment on tv?

Pretty much, I watch a lot of crime dramas and stuff. I watch Dr. Phil. 48hrs Mysteries, stuff like that.

anyway do what is best for yourself when watching the news makes you feel bad then it's the best thing you can do for yourself not to watch it anymore
