Why are North American school lunches poor quality compared to other countries? How is the cafeteria food in your country like?

I've always wonderd this. Especially since I just saw a video about a lunch staff in Paris going out of his way to pick riped vegetables and fresh meat for highschool students. In the U. S we get food that is half cooked and sometimes even greasy store bought pizza, I don't understand how that's sopose to make things healthier. Our food isn't even real. There's even an elementary school in France that influences children to eat their vegetables by cooking vegetables inside bread or putting it inside other food since studies have shown that most students throw away their vegetables. 

What do you think about this difference/how is the cafeteria lunch in your country like? 
Can U. S citizens even protest or change this? Or is it only up to the government?

If you don't like the lunch bring your own lunch, god I fucking hate how people want to force us to eat healthy like a bunch of anorexic fruity salad fucking hipsters if we wanted to eat healthy we would be eating healthy already and this is a guy who mostly drinks homemade fruit/vegetable drinks and fast food once or twice a month, people should stay the hell away from the people's stomach and just give them the option to choose healthy/unhealthy... My property taxes are already outrageously high. I'm not going to pay more taxes so kids can eat luxury foods. If they want better they can buy it with their own money, not forcefully take my money to pay for it. The purpose of school is to teach, not to feed kids five course meals.

The French are very serious about their food and it's a big part of their culture. That's why all their meals, even in schools, are freshly prepared and not processed.

The U. S. has a large population, so most of the food is simply produced to feed a lot of people at a low price. That's why a lot of it is processed.

I quit eating my highschools lunches im glad i got out of that shit hole of a school cafeteria system. You were healtheir if you ate a lunch consisting purely baked hot cheatos for lunch than if you ate the school lunch.

lol no way. these are nt representantive. i bet not even 10% schools in france are like that. also be thankful you even have a restaurant. in greek schools there are only canteens that offer snacks and sandwiches... .
