How do I get him to be more boyfriendy?

Question

Me and my boyfriend have only been going out for a week and a few days.; I am his first girlfriend and you can definitely tell. He walks with me to a lot of classes and holds my hand but he only walks with me when we are going to the same class. Other times we will walk down the same hall but go to different classes and he doesn't walk with me he walks with his friends and were in the same class the period before.

during the 2 fire drills we had during the same classes he walked right passed me and talked to his friends instead.

he still acts like my friend except he holds my hand. Nothing has changed since we started going out then when we were friends. He hasn't hugged me and I would but he doesn't really give me any opportunities.

I am stumped but I really like him and want to make this work. By the way I have had about 8 boyfriends before that move at a lot faster paces and I wish he would be a little more like a boyfriend.

I'm sorry, but it sounds an awful lot like you want a boyfriend of your own creation; one that behaves exactly as YOU think he should behave. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN. Learn to live with it.

Sure, your past relationships may have moved faster, but this is not any of your past ones. Consider also, that maybe a relationship that moves at a slower pace relative to your past allows more time for that strong emotional bond to develop before you are too involved in any other ways. Just a thought.

Lastly, this guy. Give him a bit of a break. He's new to this whole dating game, you are not. If you both like each other enough, then that is really all you need right now. Have patience with him. If there's one thing I have heard lots of women say, it's that men require patience.

Try to see his spending time with his friends not as a means to avoid you, but as proof that he has great friends whom he will always be there for, and that his ability to show commitment will be carried over to his relationship with you.

He could honestly not know how to act and it's time you sat him down and gave that boy an education! When he's with his friends, he's in his comfort zone. I'm viewing this as slight escapism. He's uncertain about anything but holding hands and fears crossing boundaries. It would help to get closer to him though his interests and become as proactive in them as you can. Also, let him know how much you really care and that it's okay if you're not certain how to act.

Ask him to open up a little, and you'll take care of him. Let him know that you welcome being close, and he shouldn't preoccupy himself with conduct. Together, you'll grow closer and find acceptable levels of interaction and communication with one another. Forgive him for being scared, and overlook what appears to you to be him ignoring you. If he truly has feelings for you, this will open him up and give him the courage to advance the relationship.

Ok. Well everyone that's in a relationships needs space just because ya go out doesn't mean he has to be all up on you 24/7 cause your probably going to get mad and start complaining.

just let him be .Your relationship didn't complete a month yet with him so you have nothing to worry about Another thing you should do just talk to him about the way you feel cause without communication in your relationships thing would wrong but tell him when the time is right because like you said its only been a week and a few days.

Well, it's his first, give him a break.

He might not be a romantic guy, and nobody's 100% romantic and caring.

He just doesn't know how to treat a girlfriend yet.

But you have to really think, if you guys got together, there must have been something you like about him.
