My boyfriend won’t stop touching my butt in public, would it be too drastic to consider breaking up with him?

I have been with my boyfriend for about 4 months and he is a very sweet and caring guy, but he can get a little carried away with his level of affection in public. I have asked him to stop nicely multiple times, and he says sorry and that he won’t do it again but can’t seem to help himself. I’m not saying I don’t want him to do that at all, just when in private; the reason for this is because I have severe anxiety and him doing that in public makes me really uncomfortable due to the fact that people can see. I would really like to make this work, but if he continues, would it be unreasonable to end things? Thank you for your time :)

I would tell him again and explain your anxiety issue. But there has to be a compromise because it should just be all on him to change his behavior. If it makes you uncomfortable him touching your butt then suggest letting him hold your hand or something else he can do to show the affection that comes natural to him. And maybe you need to seek out help to understand why you are reacting that way to affection in public. It's triggering something in you that you really should try to figure out or this could effect every relationship you have. Good luck.

I think its to drastic to consider breaking up with him.

It might have become a habit in him. Habit takes time to break. Tell him i get anxiety when you touch my butt in public. Help him break this habit.
You could suggest him to grab you by your waist instead when he gets an urge to grab your butt.

I know someone with the same kind of bad habit. You gotta help them to break it.

Just talk to him and tell him it makes you uncomfortable and that there is a time and place for that sort of thing. If he doesn't respect your wishes and your body then dump him, that wouldn't be too drastic to me.

It’s more than how people typically get embarrassed. Having anxiety is like being embarrassed 24/7. I fixate on embarrassing moments like these due to my anxiety to the point where I get ill. So this is why I would consider breaking up with him, because it’s overwhelming me.

Does he realize how serious your need to not have your butt touched in public is? If no, tell him. Are you able to compromise a little, as little sway, or light touch, on occasion? In the end, if this causes you a lot of distress, and he won't stop, then you need to leave him.

Well first of all, it's a young guy thing. Most young guys don't care if or how they display public affection. It's hard for a young guy to hold back especially if you have a butt he really admires.

He should respect your wishes. I think you should tell him that you are seriously considering ending the relationship if he doesn't stop grabbing your butt in public. Let him know the consequences of his actions and give him the chance to correct himself. You have to decide he's the type of guy that isn't respectful to you or if he's really into butts and has a hard time controlling himself.
