He had been an acquittance for 2 years, then we had a 1-year relationship. I moved abroad for a 1-year contract. I was supposed to move back shortly after my birthday this year. I had decided to stay abroad longer. In the end, I will move back in the next months.
He did not breakup with me before I moved, he did 1 month after I moved. He went from 'I miss you/ I cannot wait to see you again' to 'I cannot do that' in 1.5 days. I had not seen it coming. He told me via text that he could not do long distance because he had done with the girl before me and it ended too badly for him to want to go through that again. I think he might have had other reasons, maybe the fact that we come from different cultural and religious backgrounds or that he feels too young to commit again to a serious relationship that happened to be long distance again. The girl before me was his first serious breakup. In spite of this evaluation, I never felt as if his feelings for me were not genuine and he has always treated me like a priority. Our relationship was healthy and it developed organically. I never pushed him into anything, he was the one who involved me increasingly in his life and with his friends.
He has watched every single story I posted since the breakup, while I have only watched a handful of his. He did not handle the breakup as well as he could have had. I told him I disagreed and was upset but never pleaded/begged. I did not go crazy when he started posting about his rebound 2.5 months after our split. I have been gone ever since, just like he asked. He has told a mutual friend a few months ago that of all the girls he has been with, I am the one he respects the most because of it and that karma will get back at him for this breakup. I am confused as to why he broke no contact after 11 months of silence and even more that he has started liking my new pictures. I had told him we were not going to be friends, so why is he behaving that way?
