Why is my ex boyfriend watching my stories if he has a new girlfriend?

We broke up almost 6 months ago. Now he always ignored my social media, no likes or story views, he never really was an active user tho, until the last 2 months when his name started popping up on my story viewers. It's also about 1 and a half months since I found out he's dating a new girl.
Why is he doing this? Should I contact him? Been in no contact for 3 months and I've been tempted to text him, we ended on nice terms, even promised to meet again one day for coffee. (It was a long distance relationship) I never wanted to become strangers

Maybe u could spark his interest. Like post about something he would know or relate to. Like a saying u guys had. If he is interested even to be friends he will show signs. wouldn't interfere with his relationship but i thinknits ok to get his attention
