Why my ex won’t leave me alone?

Me and my ex had been broken up for some time now. I recently just seen him because we were meeting up to exchange each other’s things. We decided just to get coffee and call it quits. He was often hot and cold, one second he’s nice the other rude. We ended up getting into a small disagreement and I parted ways resuming no contact. Just a few days ago he texts me saying what weekend I was off because he needed a favor. I don’t understand. We have absolutely no reason to be in contact. All his stuff and mines are retuned. So why is he still contacting me?

by the way I didn’t think of blocking him at that time because i was sure I wasn’t going to text him. And the argument we had- neither of us should be talking.
