I dated a girl for about 3 years and we had a child. We had a pretty bad breakup and she took me to court and said she did not want me to see my child. She eventually agreed to let me see him 2 times a month. I believe she was and is seeing someone else and would prefer I'm not around. I pay child support and have my court mandated visitation but we have no contact with each other. Out of the blue, she starts calling and texting me every day asking for my participation on stuff she would NEVER call me about before. I am just stumped as to why she is doing this all of a sudden when before it was explicitly clear she really did not want me having any decision making with our son.

You are very important to that child's development, discipline, love, encouragement. You aren't just a wallet. I hope you know that and if you didn't, you do now. So do everything in your power to make this a good nuclear family... for the child to love their mother and to respect and honor you. The child is fine as long as you all get along and provide good mutual support as a family unit.
