What does it mean when a girl threatens to breakup and says she needs to work on herself?

So usually if we disagree on something she will throw a fit get upset say I’m disappointing her then she will say she wants to break up and say that she needs to work on herself. If I completely go along with what she wants to do none of this happens

Also wanted to say there’s no mention on working on herself when things are going well in the relationship even though there’s still present issues. It’s not one sided either I tell her look like have been very transparent with my issues and struggles and I want to get help with them to be a better version of myself. Cause I told her how can we say we have truly committed to this relationship if we aren’t giving each other the best version possible

It's a manipulation tactic. My way or the highway. She uses it because you cave in like a sinkhole.

If I were in that situation, I'd end it. Anyone who thinks you have to agree with them or you're a disappointment isn't worth having around. Neither is anyone who says things like that to get their way (which would be her defense if you did end it: "I didn't really mean it")
