My ex hasn’t told his family we broke up. Why?

It’s been two months, we still talk. His family knows things aren’t good but they don’t know specifics. Why wouldn’t he tell them what’s going on?

Yeah, he must be really hurt and embarrassed. As a guy, my guess is that they really like you. There is nothing more devastating... that makes one feel like a failure than to have their woman break-up when he thinks things are good.

Maybe, he simply thinks that it is his life, his decisions, and they do not need to get up in his Business. He probably does not want the judgmental responses that will be forthcoming... along with the continuous questions about what happened etc...

Why get into the specifics with them? All the motions go through is not their business and honestly isn’t very comfortable if he doesn’t bring women around his family often. You two obviously aren’t done dealing with one another so until you are he just leaves it alone.

We’ve been together 3 years. I feel like if we’re truly broken up, he would’ve told them.

I’m sitting here crying and holding onto to how that him not telling them just means there’s still a chance we can save our relationship

Have you talked about fixing the relationship? I feeling like that’s important to know so that if he doesn’t want to mend things you can move on. I’m not sure what to make of him not telling his family. It could mean they aren't asking about you, and that’s not always a bad thing. But don’t use that aspect as what would indicate where his heart is at. After 3 years, you should know you can be vulnerable and talk to him about your feelings. It’s better than guessing or holding onto hope if it’s pointless.

Gosh, then I guess you have your answer because no response is a response. I’m not sure what your relationship was like towards the end, or where his head is at now. But I feel like you have to do the hard thing and stop letting him have it both ways. I know you love him a lot, but what’s happening right now only works in his favor and it isn’t fair to you, since you know how much you want to try again, and he knows too, which makes it even worse. Maybe instead of being sad, start getting mad because this is fcked up of him really. After two years he can’t even give you the courtesy of a clean break and has the nerve to string you along. It has to stop. Put your foot down and draw that line so he can really see the difference. Will it be hard? Absolutely, but you’ve already been crying all the time and you are already hurting. At least by walking away you can start to heal rather than hanging in limbo hoping he will change his mind one day. You’re better than that and don’t let him forget it.
