How do I know a guy I've been dating for 3 months will come back to me since I agreed to give him space after he has been pulling away?

I have been dating a guy for 3 months now. Actually, we've decided to be friends since he recently got out of a relationship, but we really, really like each other (we're romantic with each other). I am giving him time to work on himself as I am busy w/ my career. But, lately he had been pulling away from me, and he said it was because he's been stressed. So, without him asking, I said I'd give him space. He said thank you with 3 blushing emojis. It's been 3 days of no contact, and I won't lie, I am not happy about this. But, I respect him, and don't want to be an added stress since he's going through a lot and I know men need their own space. I've always been + and never get upset when he needs his time. This is the first time in 3 months that we have not communicated for so long. And, I'm willing to give him more time, but I don't know how long I can last. He still watches my IG stories.

How do I know he'll come back and how long will this take? I cannot help but be super sad about this because I've had guys in the past just leave me hanging despite of me being understanding. And, I'm feeling like this is a break up. I hope not. He is my friend first.

Yeah, when he’s on he seems to watch the stories, but can’t be sure since I’m not keeping tabs. I know he has adhd, fam obligations (son and recent break up), financial issues, etc., hence why it’s uncool for me to make it about myself. But, I also have a need to communicate through things.

I have said to him when I gave him space that I’m always there to chat and/or cheer him up and left it as that.

I hope so. I’d like to think we have at least the friendship since he’s said I’ve helped him a lot through these hard times. Just bums me out bc the distancing is new.

Ty. I’m not sure when I’d communicate my feelings since I’m giving him space. Hopefully, when he comes around, I can express things.

I’d like to think we have a good friendship, but I’ve had such terrible past experiences that i have so much anxiety over this. But, I’ll have to wait it out & not overthink it. And, see how it goes.

Before I said that I’m ok with him needing space bc healthy boundaries are important, I also mentioned to him that I’m always there to chat and/or make him laugh should he needs to connect. And, I left it as that since the constant texting is stressful.

I was waiting for him to reach out after space is taken and tell him how the pulling away makes me feel since I’m an open book, and I like communication. I just don’t want to do it now because he’s taking the space I told him to take.

I’m trying to focus on other things, but I miss hearing from him (even as a friend), so that kinda bums me out.

I hope he comes around. We haven’t left on a bad note, don’t think!
