We are in love but he broke up with me because he is going overseas soon, will he reach out?

My boyfriend broke up with me about 3/4 months before he goes back overseas for 4 months. He comes back after that for quite a while though. But he broke up before he leaves because he said he is getting too attached and knows if he waits until he leaves to break up he will get more hurt. He doesn’t want to do long distance because he has been cheated on before.

I am not a cheater and I really thought he was the one, I’ve never met anyone like him and I would’ve waited for him. I didn’t tell him that I could’ve come over to visit him at least twice while he is away and I wonder if that will change his mind.

anyway he cares about me A LOT and said he wants to be with me but he just does not want to get hurt when he has to go away. Other than that our relationship was perfect.

lately he’s been liking all my posts, and watches all my stories straight away, sometimes rewatches them.

No, he does NOT care about you a lot. If he did, then he would not split up with you with such a trivial argument. It is not that he is going away for years but only a few months at best.

To me, this sounds more like he wants his freedom to do what he wants while being away without having a bad conscience. In other words, he wants the freedom to fornicate left and right without having to justify anything.

He may have been cheated on before but his behavior is certainly not the one of a saint. Giving such trivial arguments for such a short period hides something deeper that he will not reveal of course.

He's playing you. A person in love doubles down on a good relationship before they have to go away from the person.

If someone is breaking up with you, its because they want to break up. Its romantic fluff to say "I will get more hurt". He wants to be free to persue whomever he meet abroad without having to declare theirs a girlfriend back home.

What you need to do, is decide if this guy is SO special to you your willing to accept that truth. I know a guy friend of mine living in Chicago would always be seeing and sleeping with every girl he ran across but always speaking of "the girl he's going to marry" back home (spoiler, he never married her).

i think someone needs to tell you the truth here. he is only going away for 4 months. anyone who was in love would make that very short long distance situation work. it's literally only 4 months. some people spend 4 years like that.
