Is it over if I just found out my husband was still married when we got together?

We’ve been married for four years and have a child together. I thought everything was going great until I recently found out that my husband’s divorce wasn’t finalized when we started dating. He always told me it was over with his ex, and even his friends and family backed him up. But I checked public records and realized he was still legally married when we got together. I feel completely blindsided and don’t know how to bring it up without starting a huge fight. I love him, but now I don’t know if I can trust him. What should I do? Any advice?

okay, oh well? do you want to divorce him now? what do you expect out of this? do you want to be a single mom now? or just leave it in the past? plenty of people are still legally married, yet separated and waiting for a divorce (this process takes time - also money), and also trying to get back into the dating scene. some things just aren't perfect...

you will have to explain that you were looking up records, etc. and talk to him calmly. but what do you want out of this? how do you expect him to react? is it best to just let the past be in the past? what do you expect to get out of this talk with your husband?

In life people meet all the time & unfortunately in life people also part ways. As for your husband he may have been married at the time you two met however he was probably also separated as well. If you two are happily married you two should move forward together & look into the future & not his or your past.

This is a huge betrayal and your feelings are completely valid. You deserve honesty in a marriage. If it were me, I would calmly confront him with the facts and ask for the whole truth. Whether it's truly over depends on his explanation and how willing he is to rebuild trust, but don't ignore your own instincts.

Does it matter if the paperwork was officially done yet? That takes months and months. It doesn't mean it wasn't over.
