Why do guys change their look after a break up?

Both my ex's changed their looks after we broke up. The first broke up with me and the second just kinda unofficially ended after an argument.

I actually asked my second ex why he cut his hair and said it looked really good (he used to have long hair) and he got angry and said in a mean way "It's not like I'm trying to impress anyone." He still wears the same clothes though, but also shaved his beard(he used to have a scruffy look).

So why do guys change their look after a breakup?

So when their ex sees them they are looking fine/ doing well and not looking like a depressed hobo. Also to say to their ex (not literally), Yeah look at this, look how hot I am, you missed out on this.

probably new phase in life or got bored of the same style. I actually start dressing up nicer when go out in public just to attract ladies. and it helps to get over as well

I don't change when that happens. Possibly it happens with some because they see a new interest on a new girl to catch. So they change physical appearance to look like their type.
