Average break up time?

This is for everyone. My boyfriend and I broke up a month and a half ago. We were together over 3 years, and have never broken up before. What is the average break up time? 3 months? 6 months? I love him so much and I know he loves me, we were just going through a stressful time and I feel like we were meant to be together. We were just talking about getting married next year...we separated because he said we were in different spots in life. And he said I was perfect and shouldn't change. He also looks miserable at work most of the time, and I know he's seeing someone, so shouldn't he act happy around me?! confused..average time for a break up?! Anyone please?!

I just brokeup with my boyfriend of two years for a similar reason, and my dad gave me some advice that I never thought of. He told me that I shouldn't count on getting back together with my ex eventually, because I will be wasting time expecting something that might not happen. Who knows, you guys might get back together, and this happens for a lot of people, but don't let this stop you from enjoying life to the fullest. I know it is hard, and impossible to imagine, but dating other people is probably your best option. You are just convincing yourself that there isn't anybody else out there, because three years is a really long time. You have so many memories attached to him, but don't let that stop your from making new ones. When I brokeup with my boyfriend, I really didn't want to, but I knew it was what I had to do. You don't want to risk getting back together with him too soon, anyway, because that doesn't mean the main problem is just going to go away. The relationship might not be working again, and this would make the next breakup more heartbreaking than the first. Another one of my past relationships was very hard to end, because we finished each others sentences, and we had basically the same interests. However, other aspects of our lives were too different that the relationship just wasn't working. I still talk to him, but I know that it still can't work right now. I spent a lot of time counting on getting back together with him, and I don't want to do that with this ex. So, I hope you take my advice, or at least consider it.

hunny you need to find a little self respect he's with someone else. you need to find out why he's miserable and make sure it's just guilt of being with someone else. this is not a good situation at all I hope the best for you but ur on the brink of losing him huh and you deserve so much better but I understand as a women we don't want better we just want what we want and you have to fight for it. every break up time is different it depends on the guy it can be any where from a week to forever. wish I could be more help

In your case, I would say about one year. You were together a long time, and have a lot between you. He may be dating someone else, but chances are he is not over you and she is just a rebound. You can try to speed up the healing process by limiting contact with him and finding new activities you would like to do.

i don't know what the average time is but it seems he still likes you if he is miserable in his new relationship.
