Imagine that they broke up with you and felt sorry about it would you get back with them

Sometimes, people break up when they will be separated by distance for a long time: they are going to college in different states, one is going into the military, a family is relocating due to the breadwinner's employment, etc. In those cases, if the relationship had been progressing satisfactorily before the separation, I think reunions make sense.

If you break up because of physical or emotional abuse, substance abuse, infidelity, or any other reason that adversely reflects on the quality of the relationship, then reunion does not make sense to me. Of course it is POSSIBLE that people can change their behavior, but experience has shown me that it rarely happens. When you reunite, it is most likely that after the initial excitement subsides, you will encounter the very same problems that you previously experienced. . . and you will probably encounter them much sooner the second time around.

I dated a girl in 1979-1980, and we broke up because she felt guilty about leaving a prior relationship and wanted to return to that partner. Adios! But years later, I found her, rekindled the relationship and eventually married her. Big mistake, but at least I learned something from the experience.

Have you ever reunited with an ex? How did that work out for you?

You know those relationship arguments that don't end things between you but rather makes you resent the other person for their stance in the first place. In other words those petty arguments we have with each other in coupledom. But even after you break up, you still haven't had your say about it to your satisfaction. Example: I've been arguing my side of an old fight about Bikinis with my Ex in my head for the last 30 minutes or so. (I broke up with her 8 years ago dammit! I shouldn't be having this argument anymore.)

I'm not the only one that does that, am I...

When I hear someone say "We are taking a break (or a time out) on our relationship to work on personal problems," I am always skeptical that both partners are being honest. Quite often, that is a way to break up that introduces the idea of a break up gradually so that the other partner is not overwhelmed at once with rejection and the partner initiating the break up can try to escape some guilt for breaking up.

I also realize that a couple could say this and both be very sincere in their belief that they are breaking up to allow time for personal growth. I don't really see why you would need to take a break from the relationship for that purpose; your partner should be there to support you in good times and in bad times and they should be able to help you with whatever it is that you need to do. They can certainly give you some "alone time" without the necessity of breaking up. However, I know that there is some popular notion that "temporarily" breaking up is an appropriate way to approach these circumstances.

What is your experience with temporary break ups to work on personal problems? Was it an excuse? Was it a valid reason? Did it work?

I've been in an on and off relationship with this girl for 5 years. It always ended because of her religious difference. She went on a mission a few years ago, and recently came back. But we had plans to marry before she left and she did a lot of harsh things to me on her mission.
When she came back I was hoping things would be different, but no. I finally confronted her and got my closure on the situation. But we had a similar run in a few years ago, and she was going through major life transitions and took it out on me.
She used to stalk my social media when we weren't together and it seemed she was when she came back, but she denied it. But I blocked her on everything but Facebook.
I decided to unblock her for some reason.
Would she notice?

I'm having trouble getting over a girl who I was with for about 6 months. I lift weights but had been slacking a little while I was with her. Would it be a good idea to get into the gym again. My goal is something like the physique Brad Pitt had in Troy or that of Chris Hemsworth. Half to spite her, half to prove to myself I can get that shredded.

This is just out of curiosity of how you ladies feel when a guy sleeps with another girl.

I heard from mutual friends that she hit up her ex flames after we broke up and got together with one of them who was still single. Now she posts all this lovey dovey shit of them going on trips together on instagram. It really breaks my heart how she could move on this quickly. We've been together for 5 years

If you can't see them it doesn't count right?

It's been over a year and in everyday life everything is good I accepted that it's over have 0 contact to her whatsoever.

Anyway this weekend I got drunk and as I was sitting there in the club I couldn't stop thinking about her and it made me sad.

I've been single since the break up and only have sex every once in a while.

So it might be normal for me to think about her, or do I unconsciously still miss her?

So few months back I had a hot af and popular girlfriend, that I caught cheating on me (kinda). She thought I wanted to break up so she did it herself: There was this guy having a crush on her for a while, and once she thought that I wanna break up she got together w him. I found out she was cheating on me so I obv got mad at her. The reason she told me that made her cheat on me was thinking that I wanted to break up myself.
We have not talked for a long while untill I found out thw broke up. We started talking and she told me that she loves me, and that she regrets doing all the shit she did. Now we kind of got together again but we just had a fight, a guy told her that she's his crush, and she posted that on facebook although we were together. I got mad again, she explained this (she met him at a dance club thingy and he didn't let her go, and that she does not like him). I am not sure what to do, trust her although she cheated on me once or break up? Please be descriptive in your answers and tell me exactly what to do. If you need any more info bout something just ask me. BIG NOTICE:We are having a distance relationship, there are like 5-6 h to get to each other.
