A survey of 1,000 users shows, among other things, that 29% of users have tried the dog trick, and that people with a dog in their profile picture achieve 5% more matches on average.

Those who aren't interested in dogs, cats, exotic birds, or who have allergies to them don't want to commit to a person AND a pet.

I enjoy OTHER people's pets because I see them infrequently, don't have to take them to the vet, feed them, de-flea them, wash them, tend to them when they're sick or entertain them. Having a pet means you have to take care of something else and they cost money.

Don't get me wrong. I grew up with dogs for 18 years and had cats for 40 years. But, I like my freedom to come and go, and the savings in time and money. For those who want to take care of something, I suppose it can be an attractant.

We have a dog friendly cafe/bar and a LOT of men take their dog as their obvious "wingman".

I was there recently and a guy was sitting with his dog, cradling it like a baby in his arms and talking to it. The women gathered like a flock of seagulls on a bag of chips.

I can't agree, it's only a plus if the person likes the same pets. So a dog is big negative for people like me that doesn't want a dog in our lives. Cats on the other hand is cute but it's really not something that increases her odds. A person that dislike animals is a no go but there is no benefit to have them in the picture.

No, loll not really. When i see a woman that does not attract me in a photo with a cat, it does not make a difference at all. She could be holding the cutest kitten in the world and it would not change anything. I would prefer the kitten but i am allergic to cats (not saying i would replace a woman with a kitten). Not a huge fan of big dogs. The smarter small dogs are the ones i would have around. But not the tiny dogs. And we all know that the most attractive women are never seen with pets in their photos.

He was a chick magnet, but I had the same issue, but he was small enough not to cause an issue.
I made it work, but it did take extra effort.
