Hickeys or Love Bites are a sign to show off their passion or immense love to your partner. These are just teenage things who love to have them not aged people. I, personally, am notorious for that. I don't typically give hickeys and don't typically like receiving them. But the girl I started dating really likes them, so I gave her a few when she came to visit so she would have some "mementos", at least for a few days.

I have been against them since shortly out of high school because I've always seen them as a sign of possessiveness which is a big turn off for me. Like a girl wants to make sure she leaves a mark on you to tell other girls that you are her property. I think that's gross. Both because it is insecure and also treating another person like property.
