A friend asked me for some dating advice.

The main question is, how well can you shoot pool. If you’re an attractive woman, dressed to highlight your assets, you don’t need to shoot pool for attention, you’ll receive plenty one way or another.
There is something slinky and sexy about a woman who can handle a cue stick. if you’re simply not that good, it ruins a bit of the allure that can be created by doing little o draw attention to yourself-than spanking the reigning king of the slate.
Be cool, though, your actions will be all the more impressive if they don’t scream, “ look at me”. Most of all, know what the local etiquette and rules are. Most places a marker, often a quarter, indicates who plays next. You always play the last winner and beat him/her to gain that status. You hold it until you are beaten. Only play doubles if the current winner okays it and has a partner, always buy the winner (winning team) a round if they beat you. assuming your playing 8 ball- the usual bar game as opposed to 9 ball, usual pool hall game. Assume you must call every shot, including caroms & neutral balls. Whomever sinks the 1st ball has that “suit” (striped/solids). Any scratch ( missed 3 cushions + every ball, ball sunk that wasn’t called or wrong object ball sunk) loses your turn & allows your opponent to place cue ball anywhere behind “beak” line ( inside axis made by holding cue 90 degrees over line cue ball was behind during 1st break. If you sink 8 ball on break you win, any other time before all your other balls have been sunk AND you’ve called shot that sunk 8 ball.
Classisms playing by those rules even if house rules are more lenient.

It can best or worst thing for yea... but it really comes down to your woman and her opinions about Pool. Its not a bad idea but my friend I have seen some guys mess it up cuz her lady decided to put up with it instead of "enjoying it"
on the bright side you can evaluate her behaviour under the stress conditions... cuz the fake attitudes ladies use for dates will be challenged and you will some intel about the reality.
I would advice you...
a) beat her at it... if you think She can take it !
b) try to be Noob so that She won't feel bad about her self... some chicks even like.

I mean, I'm not fully understanding if this is meant to be innuendo or not lol.
My current boyfriend took me to play pool on our first date and we had an amazing time. Best first date of my life. I'd never played pool before so he thought that it would be a good way to break the ice. For one, it's a great excuse to get closer physically without being creepy (depending on how you do it of course) and you're also doing an activity so you have more to talk about without so much awkwardness. Dinner is great and all but you're just sitting and talking whilst eating.

It actually sounds fun and I would go for a 4th date. I suck at pool but it always nice to have the guy behind me fixing my form... pool great.

Tell him to just make sure it a decent place. And have fun. Be a nice way to see how she lets her hair down.

I think it depends on the girl, her interest in pool, your interest in the girl, and the nature of the bar. If it was this redhead, I can think of things to do with her that would be far more fun than playing pool.

That alone, to me, doesn't constitute a date - it's an activity on the date but bigger picture you're going to a bar for drinks and play some pool so is the bar upmarket and sophisticated or a grimy biker bar? Will you eat when you're there and if so will you eat a meal together or just bar snacks while playing?

I think pool is a good activity as it breaks down barriers and allows people to be vulnerable and trust the other person to not be a dick about it. Girls are worried they suck at pool guys are worried that a girl is gonna beat them - overall it's a good thing but just don't take it seriously.

Pool is also a classic activity that has some great opportunities for guys to be "distracted" by their date and for girls to do plenty of distracting ;)

When a good shot allows for compliments
Or a bad shot allows for self deprecation
Better than a movie I'd say.

It would depend on the type of "bar" . A place such as a "Fox and Hound" type would probably be OK.
At least if she needs to be taught , and you (or your friend) is halfway decent, it would be a nice excuse to put your arms around her ;- )
