Continuing from my last question, so tonight I just got a text message from him asking me if I had a date to homecoming. I said no, but then he texts back a minute later saying "sorry that was my friend". I don't know if this was him being a jerk or if he chickened out/all of sudden freaked. After he texted back saying that was his friend, I had to play it off as a joke and so I said "hahahha well I was kidding too."
truth is, this SUCKS and I honestly don't know what's going on and I've never felt so humiliated in my life.
someone tell me what the hell happened and if I should just give up on this guy altogether.

i asked him who his friend was, he said "he goes to blank school" and I was just like "oh well that text was quite interesting". then he says "haha yeah he's a funny guy" and even after I ask him if he's excited for hc he doesn't seem to be so interested.

Why would you say that you were kidding? Maybe it really was his friend, but he did have interest in you. Well, now he thinks you have a date and the odds of him asking you are slimmer. I really can't say whether or not he's being honest in the text, because it's next to impossible. Don't give up on him, but starting being upfront about your intentions.
honestly I think he was kinda hinting he wants to take you to home comming without making it so obvious, therefore he blamed it on his buddy. how come you got humiluated? it was only texting. don't worry about it. I don't think you should give up. talk to him in person about the text, and us girls can usually tell when a guy is lying or not when face to face. good luck
Don't assume anything, we can speculate, but we can't know for sure.
Maybe he
a. chickened out
b. was on a recon mission
c. it actually was his friend
just talk to him about it if you really have to know, communication is key into building relationships.
just my 2 cents
