What do you think?
Do you think it would be hypocritical to have a pet chicken and eat chicken sometimes too?
What do you think?
it depends on many factors, such as what the intentions of owning the chicken are. if you own "pet" chickens as livestock, be it to raise for meat, eggs, or profit, then no, not really. but if you own chickens as a hobby and claim to love them and all living creatures, call yourself an "animal lover" etc, then.. well, yeah. that's pretty hypocritical. people tend to deny it, because they don't want to seem like a bad person, but if you truly love all animals, not just pets, it doesn't make sense to me to use them and slaughter them for your own use when its not needed. now, say you're extremely poor and the only food you can afford at the time comes from a fast food establishment or what you can get from the food bank, or if you live in a third world country where in their culture you have to hunt to support your family, that is a much, much, MUCH different story. but i believe that as intellectually advanced human beings capable of civilized behavior and compassion, in this day and age, if you're in a stable environment and can afford to keep a chicken or animal just for the hell of it, then you've obviously advanced past the need to eat or kill animals. therefore, depending on the situation, i find do find it hypocritical to eat animals while claiming to love and care for them. now, there are of course exceptions, but this is my opinion.
I think it would only be hypocritical if you claim to love your chicken. I know people who have pets, but don't even truly care for their animals at all. You could own a chicken and not see them as sentient beings, and if that's the case for you, then I guess it wouldn't be hypocritical to eat chicken. However, if you love your pet, understand that it has its own personality and as much desire to live as you do, yet you continue to eat that animal, then I do think that is hypocritical. We don't kill the things we love.
Nope, what if you got that pet chicken specifically to eat it later? Or to eat the eggs it lays?
Also, if you get very attached to the pet chicken you need not eat it but other chickens aren't that chicken. I mean what are you gonna do, swap to eating goats and have @chocolateismylover come at you? Actually, goats taste good. I'm willing to walk away from eating goats if I had access to camel though!
Why is it made of yums if not for eats?

I think it's stupid when people cry over little baby cows and poor cute cows dying and being treated badly in the slaughterhouse and factory farms when they are the ones stuffing the poor little cows in their mouths and causing the demand.
As long as people are upfront about their apathy, I have no qualms.
One day I want a small chicken brood for fresh eggs. And one day if I decided to eat them, I would do it myself and not let someone else do my work.
Couldn't do it. I can have a pet horse and eat a cow I raised but I couldn't eat a cow and have a pet cow. It's either a pet species or a food source. Have to keep them separate.
Nope they do it on survivor all the time
Get eggs from the chicken then a few days later... chicken for dinner
I would not recommend taking your chicken to lunch at Popeye's.
Lol how? one to have eggs and one to eat... nothing hypocritical about that and who the fuck cares regardless
Why would anyone have a "pet" chicken? If I get chickens it'll be for the eggs.
But even still I'd have no problem eating chickens.
I'm not entirely sure why you would want a pet chicken.
Yeah if I had a pet chicken, I wouldn't want to eat chicken (probably..)
no, I used to raise chickens and we still ate it, but we didn't eat our own
You don't have to if it's not your pet chicken. Your pet chicken should be very grateful.
Isn't that the whole point of having chickens?
No, it sounds fun and delicious.
No... That's like a rainy day thing, right?
xD
