boyfriend wants me to meet his family in another country. The one way plane ticket is about $1,400 which I think is pretty pricey. Should he offer to help me pay for it? Or should I just buy it myself?

Why don’t you both just share the cost like you both share equal weight in the relationship hopefully. Are you feeling insecure about meeting his parents or your relationship or something?

It’s his family and his idea AND he’s a boyfriend getting serious with you. I think he should offer to pay. Bring up your concerns he might help out.

If he doesn’t foot the bill it’s a bit selfish because you are going out of your way to meet HIS family and it wasn’t your idea to begin with. As your boyfriend he should be more considerate of your time, effort, energy, expenses etc.
