Great question! Meeting girls in the wild can be difficult. You want to approach them in a way that is non-threatening. All day long girls get hit on by guys in public so my guess is they're automatically on the defensive. Here is my suggestion to break the ice. If you see a girl you like try to make eye contact with her and smile. You don't want to creep her out, so don't stare. Just catch her eye and smile. If she thinks you're cute she'll either smile back or she'll act shy. That is the girl you want to talk to. Next the approach: just walk up to her and say Hi my name is Sean. Don't give her a pick up line. Just say hi. After this point it can fall apart. What you say next will either set her mind at ease or put her on the defensive. I suggest be honest. Here is what I always say " I know this is really forward of me but I really wanted to meet you. Since this is kind of an awkward place to meet someone can we exchange email addresses?" NOTE: you're not asking for her phone number. An email address is usually less intrusive and safer than giving out a phone number. If she says yes... it worked and all you need to do is exchange a few friendly messages. If she says no. Then she is not interested and you move on.
Next: after you and the new girl exchange email addresses it's ok To keep that interaction short. Don't hang around too long and make the conversation awkward. Just say.. thank you... it was nice to meet you and I'll email you when I get home. Keeping it short also puts her mind at ease. That shows her you're not trying to get her into bed. Again.. non-threatening. The other key to this is be confident and be likeable. It's hard at first but just be confident. Try it a few times this weekend and let me know how it goes. You should expect to hear No from 1/2 of the girls. Don't let it discourage you. Attraction is a crazy thing and not everyone is compatible, so don't give up if it doesn't work the first few times.
