Guys, Why does a guy initiate text everyday but doesn't hold the conversation?

I met this guy on a dating app and we've been talking for several months. He was very active at first, he keeps asking questions and texts me twice if I hadn't get back to him in two days. I wasn't really interested in him but then I knew more about him and start to feel connected. We had our first date and chatted for hours, he said he enjoyed a lot and tried to set a second date the other day.

But since then, he has been acting more distanced. He initiates text everyday but stopped asking questions and doesn't seem to hold the conversation. He replies in sentences but only with blunt answers. We used to talk on the phone once or twice a week in the first two months, now he doesn't mention to call me at all.

Now I'm starting to like him and he seems to be disinterested. Can someone explain to me what is going on with him?
