I've been seeing this guy for a long time now but I've been getting some mixed signals. He seems to pull away when he gets too close, then comes back around. He explained this by saying he had been hurt before and he is now scared when he develops feelings for someone. He is afraid that falling in love makes one vulnerable to be hurt again because you start depending on the other person (his words).
Lately, he has been more and more emotionally open with me. Recently, he even confessed his feelings for me while he was a bit tipsy and asked me to be his girlfriend and to promise him to be together for a long time etc. Some days after, when he was sober, I asked him if he really meant those things. He claimed he was drunk and did not remember what he said. I told him what he said and I reassured him that I felt the same way. Then he ghosted me. I never got any reply. It's been 2-3 weeks already.
My heart is broken and I am at my wit's end. What do you guys think, am I being played? Оr can I trust that he might be falling for me but is scared of his feelings? He still follows my social media religiously and I wonder if he'll come back again...
