Why date someone secret for months to just date the next so publicly?

I've noticed in my past, well 3ish relationships that my partner really seemed to enjoy being with me. We would go on dates, spend as much time as we possibly could together, taking cute pictures and playing games together and etc. However they wouldn't let me post anything about them on social media, I enjoy doing that with my partner.

We would be together for months and the stance wouldn't shift at all. Then something happens, we break up and they move on. Then they post all the time about their next partner.

I can't seem to wrap my head around why this seems to keep happening. Are they ashamed to be with me? Am I ugly but good to be around? Why do I keep being the secret boyfriend?

Unless you signed an NDA I think it's fine but some people like to keep things private while others are hiding shit & it can be a redflag. I dated someone famous in the past and I had to sign an NDA, due to litigation. He has signed contracts with big name brands etc so everything that is posted is watched and he couldnt just post anything due to his career. He got in trouble for posting an image with me on his story, while we were on holiday. After ceasing a contract with a particular brand and management he got signed to a different label. So he posted a pic with me on his social media.
Maybe it's best that he is your ex, sometimes guys don't show you off because they're already involved with someone. Or they don't want people to think they're taken on social media. The reason why the next girl gets to be on their social media is because she takes no shit. Demands and he complies. It doesn't have to do with your looks unless you have a shallow guy.
