Does physical attractiveness play a big role and choosing someone and if not how do you just get past that totally?

I think it plays a big role at first. For sure. But I tend to put a lot of weight on personality also. It's just that the physical part is probably what we notice first. And we all have what we are attracted to. I tend to like "nerd" "intellectual" looking women... LOL

It absolutely does. Its often the firts thing I notice about a person and if I’m attracted to their appearance then I’m intrigued to get to know their personality. After all, its the keeper out of the two. Now say I met someone online but didn't know what they looked like. Sure the personality could lure me in, but the looks is whats going to determine if they’re the full package that I want. I dont need a model, I just want someone who i find both attractive in appearance and personality

Physical attraction is important but not a hundred percent , someone’s personality and their heart can make someone very attractive , Looks aren’t everything but it definitely plays a part , if you are only attracted to someone for looks then you are going to have a hard time finding someone or staying in a relationship with someone if looks is the only thing you are attracted to , find someone that has a both

to me... it has been an important factor yes, but it has never been a priority

it is just one of the few factors that have, initially, had me attracted to someone... attractive eyes have always drawn me and get me interested in people but, when it comes to an actual prospect for further, as in a potential relationship... physical attractiveness becomes a secondary thing for the most part

so, I definitely do not choose based on looks

It plays an ENORMOUS roll for both girls, guys and their future children (the way their kids will look like). Looks are the very first thing you see, humans are visual creatures. Be honest with yourself, when a guy approaches you, during your first few seconds you are making a decision weather to talk to him or not based on his look alone. if he is short, fat and bold, it would be a big pass, but if he looks like a tall Angel you will be talking to him. Looks are extremely important.

Well as I'm basically asexual, sex doesn't come into my head when meeting someone so they have to attract my attention in other ways generally mutual interests works or cooking for me but generally showing an interest in whatever I'm mentally perambulating at that particular time

It does play a very big role. But you (girls) shouldn't freak out about this, because a lot of women are hotter than they think they are.
(Some think they are hotter than they are, but that's another topic for another day.)

The initial attraction to someone is almost always physical. Then, as you get to know them, things like personality, intelligence, future plans and likes/dislikes become more important.

It certainly is a part of it. Not the only part though. I couldn't date someone I was not physically attracted to, but there are plenty of women that are beautiful, but with such an awful personality that I wouldn't touch them either.

Yes, its the entire reason its a relationship rather than just a lifelong best friend. Everything else matters a lot, but looks does too.
