I have a friend/roommate that I go to parties and events with often. I'm brunette, a little shyer, and a little thicker than this girl. She is blonde, outgoing and slender! Nothing wrong with either body type, but in societies standards, she's definitely conventionally prettier than me. She is also very flirty, which she says is "just part of her personality."
I really struggle with the fact that when we go out, guys are ALWAYS talking to her, and ignoring me. I have a crush on this guy, and we were talking as a group of three, and his attention slowly moved away from me to her (standing closer to her, asking her more questions, etc). Until he found out she had a boyfriend, then his attention spun 180 back to me.
I can't help but get super turned off by this. If she didn't have a boyfriend, my crush would definitely go for her instead of me. I should be happy he is interested in me again, but I will always have this little voice in my mind saying he'd prefer my friend.
I love this girl to death, and I've never told her about this insecurity or let it impact our friendship. She's actually told me that her best friend from home confided in her that she was scared her boyfriend would leave her if my friend ever expressed interest in him! So she seems to attract everyone's boyfriends wherever she goes!
It's especially difficult since my last fling ALSO seemed to have a crush on her before me, and I said I wouldn't date a guy that liked her first again!
Do I cut ties with my crush, or am I just being an insecure baby? Perhaps I should just continue to be myself, and if he doesn't like it, oh well. LOL!
