My boyfriend always starts talking to someone if we run into them, am I wrong to be annoyed by it?

It's starting to get a little on my nerves. Whenever we see someone we know, he starts talking to them. Of course that's okay, but it gets to the point where for example we're at the gym working out together and he see's someone he knows, and then he leaves me alone to go hang out with them instead, and doesn't come back for up to 30 minutes. He doesn't see anything wrong in it, and it makes me wonder if I'm in the wrong.

Why do you get upset?

He has friends and acquaintances he likes to talk to. Is that wrong? Is he not allowed?

Or is it that you have to put your plans on hold that upsets you?

Would you be ok if he said "hey, I know that guy. I'm gonna go talk to him"? Is it the lack of communication that upsets you?

No that he leaves me alone to speak with someone else when we're supposed to be hanging out. I don't get to be with him that often, since I'm busy with university.

Then talk to him about it. He can't be expected to know how you feel if you don't tell him and set expectations.

If he talks to them for a little while you're there that seems fine, but leaving you alone and going off with them is not good. Definitely have a serious talk and explain your feelings.

Put an act to show him it bothers you, I don't think he'll understand with words because in this situation he's not exactly doing something wrong

I've tried to explain it to him, but I just feel it's kind of obvious that if he is with me, he should not go off to talk to someone else. It makes me feel like everyone else he knows is better company than I am, which I know isn't true, but it's just that feeling I get in the moment.

That's what I said, don't talk to him about it, I think you should be mad and do something like leave the gym or cry about it, something that will stick to his head you know

I'm not really a crier or a passive aggressive person xD.

What exactly bothers you? That you feel left out OR someone else is getting his attention?

Not that someone else is getting his attention. That technically WE are together hanging out (it's not only in the scenario I described, it's in other situations too), and it makes me feel like he would rather be without me.

Let him know this. Tell him this: if you do this again without any legitimate reason, i will do the same and leave you. You can come back home later

Not in a hurry, it just always happens in situations where we have planned to be together just us.
