Yes, unless he is young (in high school or early 20s).
Being in love is something that is very exciting, foolish, and childish. It is also amazing and much like feeling high on life.
For many feeling chasers, we eventually learn to distinguish the nuiances between being in love and being a loving partner.
It would feel strange to be with someone who may never see me in that light, the light I could come to see in someone else. Does that person see themselves as above 'falling' into stupid loving transformative bliss?
So much of falling in love is our ability to jump into trust, belive that everything will be okay because we are enough together. Falling in love is being vulnerable, it's letting someone see the fear in our eyes, it's being so hopeful for the future wanting someone else in it.
In older relationships, falling in love takes longer due to life experiences. But I think most people still want to know that feeling is there.
