Your first mistake is to believe him.
You're not with him for a reason. You loved him so him being mean hurts even more.
You seem like a motivated and determined young lady and you have plans and goals. He was probably just being spiteful and yes, that still hurts but he doesn't deserve to be believed.
He said just to hurt you, which is a major douche thing to do.
I remember a poster from when I was a little kid.
"Living well is the best revenge."
As a kid I disagreed with that. I thought hitting them in the head with a rock was the best revenge (I was 8).
Now I know better.
You do you, be the best you possible and fill and focus your life with all things positive.
He'll be begging to come back.
Don't believe anything he has to say.
You have to move forward.

That was mean of him. If you want to get over him, avoid him. If you haven’t already, stop seeing him, block his number and social media, purge the text messages, etc. It takes time, but if he’s not in your life eventually you should think of him less.

i think about it a lot but one thing I realised whilst getting to know others is that the majority of guys would never say that so it’s a character flaw on him. Maybe I said something in an argument she wouldn’t have crossed the line with or I wasn’t firm as her when telling guys I had a boyfriend but I try to remind myself that just bc he said it doesn’t mean it’s true and who I am is for myself to decide not some guy
