Girlfriend still talks to an Ex?

They dated years ago and she's had many partners after him, yet this is the only ex she still talks to.
I don't have a problem with her talking to an ex, but I recently found out how they started dating and that fact is troubling me.

My girlfriends name is Jess.

Basically about 6 years ago, this guy was cheating on his girlfriend with Jess, and when Jess found out, she continued dating him, apparently he promised to break up with his girlfriend but never did... When the guy broke up with his girlfriend, he also broke up with Jess. For what I know it ended poorly ----yet she is still in contact with him.

I don't know, but it's bugging me. I told her my concerns, but she assures me they aren't hanging out nor would she ever...

You would if society didn't convince you that doing so was insecure...

Society and women constantly shame men for having boundaries, don't listen to them. If she wants to look to the future and have a partner, there is zero reason for her to be talking to any ex period. Your girlfriend is simply not girlfriend material (most are a myth). You are trying to have a relationship with a girl that is not relationship material. Your only option is to cease and move on, but more likely you will convince yourself of the opposite as many do. When you need to tell a girl how to treat you, it's over...

This doesn't seem like some childhood, family, platonic friend she's kept in contact with, or an old classmate, co-worker etc.
This is a guy she wanted that she never really got.
He's also a cheater and she probably still has an itch to be with him.
Why does she need to stay in contact with this guy? It sounds like she's keeping her options open. She still values him.
I'm not saying you should freak out at her, but Just understand that you've got competition, and he's no innocent guy. She's being inconsiderate to you by maintaining a private relationship with an old boyfriend.
