I was catfished by a young guy online that liked me. He knew I wouldn't talk to him so he pretended to be this handsome man and I believed him. He said a lot of kind words and I associated it with this face.
I found out I was being catfished because I found proof online. Then the guy confessed his true age and the name of the man in the photos who was a sexy male model that also looked like he was a kind person.
I decided to message the person from the photos on instagram to let them know that someone had catfished me with their photos. I told them they did not need to reply. I didn't say anything weird but just breifly let them know. I thought they might want to protect their account. I did mention being a little sad. I also sent them a screenshot showing me being catfished with their photo on the screenshot.
The instagram person didn't answer but a in few hours their account showed it was either deactivated or deleted. I tried with a new account to see if I was just blocked but it still showed the page was not available. I didn't expect them to say anything to me but I didn't know they would want to deactivate their account.
What do you think the reason would be behind the deleting?
Do you think they deleted/ deactivated the account because of me messaging them and them thinking I'm weird and they dont want me to talk to them...
or would it likely be because they are sorry for me with the catfishing that occured, they want to protect the account and their security, they are upset that their pictures were used like that or some other reason? I didn't expect him to remove his account. Was it me they were scared of? Or something else?
