Well, let's put it this way. It's normal for someone with unmanaged depression to push those they love away.

Even those who manage their depression can still have tough periods.

But what needs to be done is he needs to manage his depression and learn to communicate effectively.

So in that sense, him just pulling away isn't normal. It isn't healthy. It's just common, because most people don't manage their mental health.

The problem is that he lives long distance and for him it is easier to do so, we used to communicate on Instagram, we dated for 3 months in the same country then long distance he admitted that when I left the country ( cause my traineeship ended) he started to feel worse... it was traumatic for him and affected him, we argued while in long distance cause he started to distance himself... and I felt rejected even when he said he loves me and always stayed loyal but he had other emotional issues too. Now he is so confused... he said he cares about me and he is still attracted to me, wants to see me , but he " can' t have a normal life " " he has to endure this himself"..." he can' t act in way that will lead to hurting me"

Yea, men (and women) with depression will often have lower or no libido also. depression or even anxiety can affect many things in your life such as sleep, sex drive, thinking patterns, cognitive functions etc. And will definitely impact your relationships with others. You can find yourself withdrawing especially from the closest to your heart.

Thank you for your answer:) it really hurts when he is not replying to me for days... but at the same time he opens up to me , said he cares about me deeply that he is still attracted to me and ye he said he is " off about all sexual things" and he said he does not want to act in any way who leads to hurting me..

Well I think that’s nice of him to say, it seems like he’s trying to communicate and being honest with you :). well for me yuh bc i wouldn't wanna worry her so id try to slightly step back but i think that does hurt her because i love her n she loves me n taking a step back prob won't help. so nvm idek tbh
