What are some good tips for first boyfriends/girlfriends?

I am wanting to know some good tips that might be able to help me.

I recently got my first boyfriend and we have both liked each other from the beginning. Last night one of our tech friends found out about us and so I was thrown off course so last night between us was very off. We didn’t hug, talk or even high five so it was very different.

We figured it all out. I’m curious what tips you guys have. Not only for things like that but also just good tips to help me navigate this relationship with him as best as possible.

First of all, communicate.

Secondly, it sometimes helps if you think about your wording.
Try to word yourself so he doesn't feel attacked when you're bringing up issues, as that tends to put people on the defensive.
So if he's doing something that makes you feel bad it might help to formulate yourself in a way where you don't make it sound like you blame him, where it doesn't sound like you think that his actions are wrong.
Instead acknowledge your own insecurities etc, and ask if he can help *you* with that.

Thirdly, try to put yourself in his shoes, see things from his perspective when talking with him.

Fourthly, and this kind of runs counter to the other ones, but don't overthink things.
Try to trust his love for you.
That it's genuine, that he has a good reason for loving you etc.

Perhaps you two can tell each other about the things you love about each other?

Do little things in day to day life that shows him how you feel.

*Saying* that you love him is one thing, *showing* him through your actions is another.
But don't overdo it, it needs to be sustainable, something you can keep doing long term, not something that burns you out and that you'll stop with after a while.

Another thing.
I know that it's super scary, but being willing to be vulnerable is important to make lasting relationships.
Unfortunately at your age I'm afraid that it's hard to really get relationships where your boyfriend really is caring about you rather than just your body, you know.

Be honest about your feelings and your doubts. Talk about them.

Don't rush, do things comfortably at your own speed.

Don't play games or try to get your partner jump through hoops as proof of their affection.

Listen to advice, but also keep note who that advice comes from. You might disagree with your parents, but they should know more about relationships than your preteen friends.

Don't talk about disagreements with any of your friends and don't post anything online about your relationship other than a picture together to show that you are both taken. Also, don't get any NEW opposite gender friends.
