Most guys are often terrible texters and prefer face to face communication over texting, especially when it comes to giving out personal information. My ex boyfriend was a terrible texter but a wonderful conversationalist IRL, so we rarely ever texted and mostly called or met up.

Correct, it does take two people to have a meaningful conversation. If you are the only one trying to get them to talk, you would get exhausted and bored real fast. I would highly recommend both of you make plans to meet up or do voice call instead of texting. Assuming you guys are still in the talking stage, building a strong foundation is very important and a significant part of moving towards the dating stage. You would have to keep the chemistry and conversations alive, so just ask him if he wants to call or meet up instead of texting.

Social Media puts a gap between people. YOu never know what you have until one sees the nonverbal communication of the other one. People love their computer time more than dating in person and conversation. It takes willing to meet and if that is an impossibility I can not imagine trying to have anything meaningful with someone like that..
